Re: bolts in face above Rocket, Pet Wall

It is a Craig McGee project that he abandoned a few years ago.

Re: Overnight Rockfall!

From what I saw up on the Chief a couple days ago, I think it was very likely to have been the pillar that broke off the top of the North-North Gully's southern side, at the very top, just 100m from the North Summit trail. The scar is still raw, pale yellow, and nasty-looking. The scar is about 25-3...

Hello everyone, This is Kevin McLane here, and this post is in response to comments by Jeremy Frimer on July 21st about me on this thread, particularly this one “... The rumour was that Kevin McLane was lobbying Dave Zevick at BC Parks to have me arrested and charged a criminal offence for the devel...

Yes Dru, that's correct, maybe 5-6 years ago. They reported the cougar's presence and it was dead within 2 hours.

I have been through a similar experience face to face with a very large cougar in Crumpit Woods, alone, and far from the road in the late evening. Shouting and being aggressive was only making the situation worse as time passed and the cougar inched closer. I changed tactics and started chatting wit...

The world's highest war, and not a bolt in sight.

Here is a recent BBC story about "The World's Highest War". It rarely makes the news, but it has been running for 22 years at an altitude higher than any peak in Canada and the USA except Denali and Logan.

Hello CrackHead, Right Wing... What would I do? I've been on it but was turned back like many other climbers by the nasty wet corner at the bottom. It's usually soggy outside of summertime heat. I think the end of Jeremy's work is a bit too far off to declare the route should have bolts added, have ...

Good work Jeremy, you started a valuable thread... I'd like to offer a few thoughts, starting with what Will addressed: claiming authority to bolt-up what is essentially a gear climb because the First Ascentionist "gave permission". Quite how to go about retro work of any kind has often been a delic...

Thanks for the question... I'd like to try and clear up the confusion that seems to be happening over Stairway to Heaven. The guidebook topo on pages 294-295 implies the numbered pitches 9, 10, 13 (part), 14 and 15 as being the line to follow. The pitches are marked "project", but that is all too co...

Good question about those routes, it's certainly confusing. Here's what I know... or I think I know... Whirlwind takes the leftmost line through the right-leaning overlap, same as Baseline Direct. What the guide calls Evergreen State takes the central line, sounds like the one you climbed. Good clim...
