Re: Lowering off Chains Some More?
I'll bite. As far as established etiquette goes, I'm not aware of any. But when I started climbing a couple years ago, it was run through my head that you do not lower off hardware, and that you either clean the route from the top and walk off, or you rap. Use only your own gear to run the rope thro...

Re: Lowering off chains
what's that saying? Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day, teach a man to fish and you'll feed him for a lifetime? I think that's the one. Maybe it's worth spending some time going over rappelling with your friend. It's a valuable skill at any rate. I'm not sure about establish etiquette for get...

Re: Squamish's stiffest routes...
Has anyone mentioned Orphan at Murrin? Probably the stiffest 5.8 I've done in squamish. If it were a person, it would be the manliest 5.8 of them all, putting all other 5.8's to shame (in squamish), making them feel inadequate. It shames a few 9's and 10a's as well.

Partner for Thursday, July 9 in Squamish
I'm looking for a partner in Squamish for tomorrow night. I can lead from about 10a-10c, suck at thin finger cracks though.I'm up for some cragging (been thinking about split beaver recently), or a short multi on the apron on the papoose. Send a pm if you're interested!
Cheers, Mauro

Re: "USHBA" failure - ground fall
since my last post ive probably seen half a dozen different folks with shiny ushaba copies doing laps in the bluffs Climb On recommends the grand wall ushba's over other TR soloing devices becuase they don't cause rope wear, which is why I ended up purchasing one, with a bit of reservation. I'll ha...

Re: "USHBA" failure - ground fall
I recently started using one of these. Some of the things that popped in my head during my first few uses were the lack of redundancy, and the tendancy for the rope to get pinched in the cam. Tipping the scales at 250, I noticed that the cam would pinch the rope so tightly that once past a rest/fall...

Looking for partner - weeknights starting in July
Hi all,I'm looking for a partner to do some climbing in squamish. Ideally short multipitches are what I'm looking for (4-7p). I can lead about 10b/c on gear, and I'm looking for someone who can climb the same, if not slightly harder. I live in burnaby, but regularly make the trip out to squamish for...

Pretty much had to aid through it. It doesn't help when your fingers are too big for the crack. The ego took a big hit that day.
