My buddy and I climbed the route last Friday. Was good fun, but man oh man, the bugs were terrible! Bring bug dope!

Re: Lowering off chains

On the other hand, the incidence of accidents occurring because of confusion over rap vs lowering decisions is meaningfully high. The classic situation being that the belayer stops belaying because they expect their leader to rappel, then the leader takes a ground-fall when they try to lower. I get...

Re: "USHBA" failure - ground fall

Glad you came out of this relatively unscathed Bruce! Hope you make a full recovery.... A couple years ago I was top rope soloing using my mini-traxion, and near the top of the pitch I looked down at the device and discovered that the cam had become locked in the open position. I had no idea how thi...

Subaru Forester for sale

Hey everybody, After many great years of driving around in my Forester, I'm finally replacing it (with another Forester of course). I've taken great care of it, and if you look after it, it'll serve you well. It's great for the logging roads and is fantastic in the snow. The car: 2001 Subaru Foreste...

Re: Wasp nest and sketchy tree at the Squawlharny

Frimer and I were warned about this nest before starting up the trail by a couple of hikers that got swarmed by the offending wasps. little black buggers. anyways we gingerly made our way up the trail and managed to spot the hive before we stepped on it. we put a couple paper warnings on the trail a...

Wow Greg- glad you're okay. Sounds like there'll be a lot of rehab, but it could have been worse. Kudos for posting up and I hope you recover quickly.

Just reminds you though that climbing can be pretty darn safe if, and only if, you do everything right. Get it wrong and...

Re: New Moderate Cliff - Murrin Park. Valley of the Lost Tri

Hey Kris, Thanks for the update. I saw that blog recently and together with some previous posts it got me wondering what the state of those two crags was. Seemed like a fair bit of route development had occurred, but little in the way of topos had made its way into the public realm. Might have to go...

Re: New Moderate Cliff - Murrin Park. Valley of the Lost Tri

Thanks for all the hard work Chris!

PS, I've seen occasional references to two new areas: "the longhouse" and "top shelf". anybody willing to divulge where these are or are they still in development?
