Re: Alpine rock in North Joffre creek
My partner and I headed up to check out the Mighty Mouse route on Saturday. There was a little bit of uncertainty as to what to expect but from most accounts it sounded worth the trip. I have to say that overall I am pretty blown away by the quality of the climb and relative straightforwardness of t...

Multipitch partner for Sunday
Hey, I am currently looking for somebody to get on a good miltipitch this Sunday. I lead up to 10+ on gear and would be up for a solid mission. I have a car, double rack and ropes so I can cover the essentials. If somebody has a couple .5's & .75's to add to the mix I would be interested in getting ...

Re: The Official 2015 Arc’teryx Climbing Academy Thread
So I signed up for the Alpine Climbing systems course and it says I need shoes, harness, belay device/locker and a helmet. Obviously this is the bare minimum but am I being given EVERYTHING else? Or are there some other things like anchor gear etc that seem logical to include that I would benefit fr...

Loose rock on Bulletheads East
I am likely not the first person to notice this, or maybe I am because unlike most climbers I am around 225lbs. When pulling onto the second pitch (10c with the mini roof) the 5 foot flake of granite sitting on the shelf at the start pulled back away from the main slab. From what I could deduce, it ...

Re: Disaster Response (3 p 5.10) on a new wall
After all of the glowing reviews I decided to head up and check out the route for myself. Really enjoyed the wide variation on pitch two and the pull around into the alcove was a blast! The layback on pitch three was also a really good time, if only it was longer! In regards to the question about ac...

Re: A Guide to Sandbagging Newbies and Sportclimbers
After reading that first post, I checked out some other stuff on the blog and realized that I was the weekend warrior belaying my buddy who was on rock for the first time at skaha when he was TR soloing and trying to rap down right ontop of him in that "guide" post. Myself and my other buddy who wer...

Re: A Guide to Sandbagging Newbies and Sportclimbers
Theres a lot more controversy than I thought there would be.... I felt like the whole time I was reading the climbing equivalent of maddox (http://maddox.xmission.com/). I honestly laughed out loud multiple times and have to say that as somebody who aspires to write in your style I am thoroughly imp...

The Climber's Guide to Squamish New edition
Just curious if anybody has any info about the status of the new version of this book? On the website it said slated for release last year and I haven't been able to dig anything up other than some super pricy amazon copies of the current edition. Any info would be appreciated.

Incident in Murrin Park on Saturday?
When I was heading out of Murrin at dusk on Sat there was an ambulance in the parking lot of murrin with the lights off just sitting in the lot. We were driving back into Squamish to grab a coffee before heading back to Van and two firetrucks along with another ambulance passed us; they were both in...

Re: New Area - Porteau
Climbed On Edge yesterday; I would say I agree with the 11- rating, really enjoyed the crux moves! I felt that just after the crux before you shimmy left back onto the face, the top of the crack has a fair bit of loose rock sitting in it. I tossed some of it out of the way but theres still some more...
