Re: Lowering off chains

For all kinds of reasons, it may be inappropriate to lower off trad routes, even at relatively user-friendly venues like the Bluffs
Really how come ? I lower of directly of chains on trad routes all the time, its great! Even better when someone has left leaver biners.

Re: Best to be more discreet

Especially when you are a high profile Arc"teryx athlete with entourage, which this group is. This is the kind of thing that has repeatedly lead to aggressive enforcement of the Lower Malamute closure in the past. Shame.

Re: new area at Murrin past Quercus

Hey SLHughes, I for one and sick and tired of the likes of you critisizing other peoples route efforts. Why do you guys (the ones who identify themselves as "trad climbers" ) think that your particular take on protection preferences is superior? Is it some sort of bullsh*t moral/environmental argume...

Re: Liquid Gold

I agree with Marc that the last pitch of Liquid Gold is way overgraded at .11a - .10c at most.

Climbed Angels Crest today which was a big mistake as many pitches were basically waterfalls, needs another couple of days to dry out....

Re: Retro Scrub - The Ghost

Hey Jesse, You may want to reconsider attempting the Ghost tomorrow. The first bolt is a solid four meter's off the ground, a superfluous bolt was added to the crux next to bomber gear, and scores of trees were cut down in order to make Pet Wall a modern rock climbing area (very upsetting considerin...

Re: New route on Lakeside in the Woods

The real question is: what is now the most bad a$% trad route in Squamish? Is it Jeremy Smith's The Bull or Sonnie Trotter' s Sugar Daddy?

Hi Mcfly,

Are you also working on the central chimney line on the cliff? If so is it done and what grade is it?

Re: Unheralded Squamish classics

Most of the previously listed routes are heralded or at least moderately popular. Overly Hanging Out, Garfield, Orifice Fish, Borderline, Quagmire Crack, Popeye and the Raven, Crescent Crack all receive multiple ascents per season. White Lightning used to be very popular but is less so due to the ab...

Re: Worn Fixed Gear

Worn lowering biners on anchors aren't the problem as there won't be any falls on them, if you always see worn lowering biners, and it alarms you, why don't you pluck one of your own biners off your harness and replace it!! always bring one or two of your booty biners or those crappy budget biners y...

Re: Trees Cut at Pet Wall

Although I haven't seen the clearing, I think this is probably a good thing. The second growth trees (post 1986 clear cutting) are getting bigger every year and crowding out several sections of the cliff. Don't kid yourself about your recreational activity having no impact as you step off the massiv...
