Re: The Distillery Topo (new sport routes)

Hi Heavy, Yeah, I should have gone with my gut for the grades but I hadn't really been climbing routes much and asked a couple of strong friends for their opinions on the grades and they said they were easier than I thought they were. I figured I was just weak. Anyway, glad you liked them. Thanks fo...

The Distillery Topo (new sport routes)

Hi Everyone, Here is a link to a topo for The Distillery, a new crag on the trail to the Pillary at Area 44. The topo was put together in collaboration with the good folks at Blurr. Have a little look around their new website while your there. If you visit the crag please chime in on the grades by p...

Re: New routes along trail to the Pillary (Area 44)

The flake route line does go to the right along the top of the flake then up. The left path over the bulge is a bouldery variation I just had to do. ;)

Re: New routes along trail to the Pillary (Area 44)

Hi barbie, Thanks for the kind words and for posting your opinions on the grades. Hopefully, more people will do the same and we can get some concensus on the grades. It was a lot of work prepping the crag, seeing as it was completely enshrouded in moss. I chose to scrub the entire crag in hopes tha...

Re: New routes along trail to the Pillary (Area 44)

V4 and below maybe. They aren't too hard just have pretty definite crux sections. Their are some easier lines there as well. I'm guessing 5.8 - 5.11+ sort of range for the crag. All routes are bolted but can be easily top roped, as well.

New routes along trail to the Pillary (Area 44)

I've added a bunch of new routes on a bouldery crag on the trail to the Pillary (Area 44). The routes are short and most have definite crux sections (boulder problems). I haven't been on a rope much at all this year so I'm not too sure of grades. It's also hard to grade route when you know them so w...

Re: New Moderate Cliff - Murrin Park. Valley of the Lost Tri

Nice job, Jack and Kory. It didn't take you very long to finish that. Maybe you guys should look at the OPEN project between Sad Noodle and The Flying spaghetti Monster. Looks pretty thin. Chris Small As Chris suggested, I filled in the blank on the Valley of the Lost Tribe wall last week. The week...

Re: New Moderate Cliff - Murrin Park. Valley of the Lost Tri

Kory Fawcett and I put in another new route just around the corner from The Valley of the Lost Tribe the other day. You get to it by going up the little ramp on the right hand side of the crag and then you continue right just before the top of the fixed line. It's a left leaning finger crack in a co...

Re: New Moderate Cliff - Murrin Park. Valley of the Lost Tri

Thanks, Chris. You were right when I mentioned it to you... it is harder than it looks. Tricky boulder problem. The move over the lip and finish of "A Game of Cat and Mouse" sure is nice.

Re: New Moderate Cliff - Murrin Park. Valley of the Lost Tri

Kory Fawcett and I had fun adding a new route to Valley of the Lost Tribe crag yesterday. "Whipping the Cat" (3 bolts and gears) begins on the arete left of "50 Lashes with a Wet Noodle" and right of "A Game of Cat and Mouse". "Whipping the Cat" begins with a very cool boulder problem on the arete (...

Re: Bangers and Mash 5.10b(?)

That was fun, Matt. Glad to help out with figuring out placements and how to install the hardware. It's a fun route you scrubbed up and an obvious line that people will enjoy. Here's a link to the drill we used. It's actually a Bosch not a Makita and it comes highly recommended for our application. ...

Crack Be Nimble, 12a, Recleaned with new station.

Kory Fawcett and I recleaned and replaced the anchor on, "Crack Be Nimble" (a cool, short 5.12 finger crack). It's located on the highway side of the Malamute. Walk the trail toward the upper Malamute and after you climb the concrete steps head immediately right along the cliff band to the base of t...
