If you're in toronto in the spring, a trip down to the red river gorge might be a worthwhile journey. Theres a big pilgrimage of ontario climbers headed down there in the spring, you may be able to carpool. Post up on ontarioclimbing.com, and Im sure you get lots of advice/hits for the east.

Im gonna go out on limb and say its pretty widely accepted to lower off a sport route...at least on this continent. Lowering off doesn't really wear the rings out that much around here anyway, IMO. Even places that are sandy and wear gear down much quicker...RRG and NRG for example, people are lower...

Without researching how Petal recommends how to rig a handled ascender....Ive used it in the past without incident. I had it rigged with a chest harness and clipped to belay loop below. It always worked well, but clumsy. I eventually switched to a mini-trax and ushba.

Pick up west kootenay rock guide. It leads me to believe theres tons of stuff to do. I spent a little time out there this fall, but didn't have a partner to climb with. My wife and I made the trek to Valhalla one weekend, and I think its definitely doable for a weekend trip. We're thinking of moving...

I sourced T-nuts a few years ago, and found MEC was the cheapest.
Regarding your shipping issue, look into renting a PO box and having things sent there. Im not sure on the details, but I have a friend who regularly sends stuff to point roberts.
