Box Canyon, Coquihalla Highway
Climbers planning to visit Box Canyon, at the south end of the Coquihalla Highway 30 km north of Hope, are advised that a major highway infrastructure improvement project is underway to expand and upgrade the chain-up / chain-off pullouts at the entrance to Box Canyon. Current construction has rende...

Re: Cypress new climbs.
I had the same experience climbing Undertaker a few weeks ago. I was quite surprised to pull around the roof and stand up on the large juggy flake when the entire flake shifted several inches underfoot. I thought I was going to pull out completely with me standing on it. Presumably this is the sort ...

Re: Quarry Rock North Vancouver - Closure
John, Glad you've enjoyed those routes. Bouldering in that area leaves a lot to be desired, but it's there.. The top of Tower of Power often requires a clean up since hikers like to lob garbage off the viewpoint directly above the climbs. This doesn't affect the climbs, just the top where you leave ...

Re: Quarry Rock North Vancouver - Closure
The issue at Quarry Rock is ongoing, despite efforts to communicate with the landowner. Here is the background: Approximately 30 new climbs were established along the base of Quarry Rock (below the viewpoint) between 2012-2014. The developers of these routes, myself included, routinely hiked down th...

Dry tooling at Sully's Hangout
Climbed at Sully's Hangout (North Van) this morning, and one of the more popular warm up climbs has been quite badly scratched up by someone dry-tooling there recently. I feel that dry tooling at popular, well-traveled crags is far too destructive. It takes a lot of time, energy, and money to develo...

Dry-tooling at popular crags
Climbed at Sully's Hangout (North Van) this morning, and one of the more popular warm up climbs has been quite badly scratched up by someone dry-tooling there recently. I hope others share my opinion that dry tooling at popular crags isn't a very good idea. It takes a lot of time, energy, and money ...

Re: Indian Arm
Andrew, There is a wall on the west side of Indian Arm known as Jellyfish Rock that may have a couple TR anchors but that's about it. I understand it's accessible only by boat. There is a photograph on the wall in The Raven pub (Deep Cove) that might be it, but it isn't labelled as such. Other than ...

Re: Capilano Classic
J Mace... Glad to see more people have visited the Classic. In so many ways it is a very cool route in a unique position (for Vancouver). The river approach described in Kevin's old guide isn't always possible and the original first pitch is terribly overgrown with rusty hardware - not worth the eff...

Re: route to the right of garfield at comic rocks
The mysterious bolted line right of Garfield is scruffy (go figure) now and quite hard even for 10d. It also requires gear in a dirty crack to get to the top of the wall (bolt station). I have also seen recently an interesting, long haired guy frequenting Comic Rocks with a chainsaw 'working' on cle...

Re: Cypress Falls
You can take the bus to Cypress Falls Park really easily. Its West Vancouver bus '253 Caulfield' and you can just google the route. From where the bus drops you off you can easily walk to all three cliffs in Cypress Creek but the closest one for sure is the Cougar Cliff, which would be a ten minute ...

Re: Copper Cove mystery climbs
After spending several days climbing at Copper Cove recently, and also speaking with Robin B directly, I've learned that the farthest wall (topo in McLane's 99 Squamish guide) is actually called Supratidal Zawn . The other large cliff, the first one you reach when approaching the area, is Tidal Zawn...

Re: Sullys projects
Julian,
I believe that line still needs one more bolt at the top, and as far as I know (anyone, anyone?) has still not been climbed. However if you climb it 'as is', please do tell. It is an open project, grade unknown, likely in the 12+ range.
