Re: Is Squamish Soft?

Another good example of grade change is South Arete, originally 5.4, now 5.9.

I don't think you can make a generalization about grades in Squamish because there is such a great difference from crag to crag. Go compare Apron Strings to a 10B at chek.

Re: Skywalker, 5p, 5.8

I had a chance to climb Skywalker again and instead did the EPB finish. There was a solid 4-5 parties on Skywalker (on a Monday morning) so there is no shortage of traffic. The EPB finish was fantastic. Very well bolted, supplemented with good gear. Does anyone know anything about the status of the ...

Re: The Common Wealth - New Trad Crag Murrin Park

I had a chance to climb at The Common Wealth today and quite enjoyed it. A very nice moderate crag. It was super busy (around 12-15 people at busiest) so i'm sure it will see plenty of traffic. "It's not easy being green" and "Ancient Squamish Secret" were my two favourite routes. My friends looking...

Re: Good Restaurants?

The best food I have had in Squamish has been at The Campfire Grill and The Watershed Grill. Maybe I just like grills though.

Re: New Fixed Chain on Broadway

I found the length/positioning of the chain to be confusing. I might have missed something (haven't done that walk off a lot) but it seems like one of the "moves" a few feet past the chains is just as technical, if not more technical, then the section the chain protects.

Re: first time in squamish: Easy multipitch climb for a frie

Skywalker near Shannon Falls is a good multipitch option. It is 5.8 with 5 pitches, beautiful views, and it's well protected. 5.8 is a bit harder then you had requested but there is only one pitch of 5.8 and it eats up as much finger sized gear as you have and it is dead straight (no pendulum potent...

Re: Bon Echo Park - Mazinaw Lake, Ontario

Bon Echo is a lot of fun. Make sure to wear a helmet as they are mandatory (there was an incident a summer or two ago that resulted in two climbers being banned for not wearing helmets and added further to the access issues). Here are some shots from a couple summers ago: https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.aka...

Re: Chief campsite sizes

I took a look today and I would say that they roughly range in size from 12 feet X 12 feet to 16 feet X 16 feet.

A big thank you to whomever taped a "Danger Bees" sign to this tree. Made it very easy to avoid as there are plenty of other non-bee infested trees.

Re: Moderate multipitch under 5.9 (with stations)

its not like gear anchors are particularly hard to make either ... if yr trad leading IMO, you should know how to make an anchor, or sling a tree ... note that even banana peel requires 2 gear anchors and mostly slung trees if you have a 60m ... and thats as newbie a climb as you have here I think ...
