For sure having a chain there is better then multiple ropes, but if those chain are such a big deal what about the chain to access mercy me they are not require since there is way around it. did not hear any complain about the traverse rope on the north wall. not to mention fix rope on the apron tra...

That right you are a strong 5.9 climber in your good days and you don't like chain fair enough. But put in perspective that there is lots of beginner going true that section. Setting a anchor and a belay is time consuming. i find it better not to have to wait for people in that section...

If you can afford a guide i would go for it! But when the budget is tight and you know you are a climber at soul... I would buy a couple of book like climbing anchor and climbing accident of previous year to find out what are the common mistake not to do. Buy like 8 quickdraw and a rope gear to buil...

I would say probably less then halfway from the spit to the wood fiber, the cliff reach the water. I would think you can only go by boat look like 60 to 80 meter high maybe higher. i tough i saw some kind of rig to anchor a boat or climber
