Re: Block on Sword gone?

I think it happened last summer in the middle of a busy long weekend. I had a friend at the base of peasants route who said it was basically terrifying to see. I've climbed the route once since then and found it spooky. The pitch is kind of dangerous now in my opinion and I'm surprised there hasn't ...

Found gear at Burgers and Fries

I found some gear last night (thursday June 5). If you can identify what I found, I'll get it back to you. There was a young family of 3 that may have left some stuff.

cheers

I have 6 brand new (tags still on) 30cm BD dyneema slings that I don't need. $20 takes 'em all. They're $6.00 each at MEC.

an open letter to Anders

Anders, Thank you. Despite very public and fairly relentless criticism, you stood up for restraint and took the long term view. While the gondola project through the Parks has been approved, I applaud your efforts. More importantly, I applaud your willingness to come out of retirement (from land use...

lost - Elaine's email address

Anyone know Mike and Elaine from Squamish? They're both climbers and they have a young child together. I have lost Elaine's email address twice and I have a couple of things to return to her after a recent trip to the bugs.

If you have a contact for them could you PM me or something like that?
thanks

Re: Mercurial Crossing at Papoose - route by John Howe

Did Mercurial Crossing a while back and thought it was really nice, technical, well protected face climbing. It's not a slab!!! This thing actually has holds and combined with Mercury Vapour, Pin up and the new connector into the finish of Centrefold makes a great 4-pitch outing. Hopefully more peop...

Re: Is Squamish Soft?

Well I've just come from a nice little after work session at Nightmare rock. I think the routes there are a good example of how YDS is applied in Squamish. First, there's Claim Jumper. It's a nice little .11d and is also mentioned as the best .10a finger crack in Squamish in something that I read so...

Re: The Gauntlet

Did the gauntlet with the "chicken out" finish last week. This route has top notch and well protected corner and crack climbing. It's not easy but it sure is fun. It needs traffic to stay in climbable shape. Somebody else should go do it - like soon! Pitch one (cleaning the brain) is good. Pitch 2 i...

Re: Disaster Response (3 p 5.10) on a new wall

Yeah. I agree. Disaster response is a great 3 pitch 5.10 route. Excellent cleaning job and really great find. Pitch two is spectacular and pitch 3 is a well protected but burly layback / jam crack. Pitch 1 is a bit gritty from cleaning but should get better with traffic. Get on it!! Thanks Glenn and...

Re: Here we go again (Squamish Gondola proposal)

Hi Anders, I'll take a stab at a couple of your questions: 1. I believe that the District of Squamish municipal council is giving third reading to re-zoning the former gravel pit tonight. I expect that 3rd reading to pass which will then allow for such a development on the road-side gravel-pit. Ther...

Re: the waiting game, south gully. hype.

For sure. Waiting game is a great few pitches of crack climbing. It deserves more traffic and it's good to go in the heat. Go do it!
