Re: No more Squamish Mountain Festival

Thanks for the clarifications Justin, I look forward to seeing how it comes together.

It sounds like you guys will continue to support access groups with the new format which I think I can say all of us truly appreciate.

Re: No more Squamish Mountain Festival

Thanks Justin.... So am I understanding you correctly by you saying: ... As for the new event format, we have not taken anything away from what was already there, we’ve just added a larger educational component to include more skills clinics, first aid and rescue seminars, and other vital mountain k...

Peder Ourom

Facebook?...No thanks I nominate Peder for best new crag for his outstanding work on Woodstock that provides a set of several excellent quality, wide ranging (5.8-5.11) moderate sport routes on the new Murrin Loop trail. Even without topos yet on quickdraw pubs (or even some names for the climbs) it...

Re: New Route by Glenn Woloski - Fog Ducker Spire

It does look very nice. Let us know if Glen is still using Barley staples/crap anchors. Photophobia was a great climb, but I won't be doing it again with the sprinkling of staples of it.

Re: New Routes Cream of White Mice area

Go whine about staples somewhere else... Well when an engineering test commissioned by Barley himself resulted in a mean failure of 2kN on his staples, I'd certainly like to know what (staple) routes to avoid....even if they are the "new and improved" Barley staples. Don't get me wrong, I appreciat...

Re: Crag/Trail Work Suggestions

-The climbers right trail from the top of the Slhanay ("squaw") to the chimney fixed line/downclimb could use some work

-Despite a crew from last year during the trail day climbing festival, more work is needed on the Area 44 access to the base of the climbs.

oh for gawds sake... If you felt that strongly about it, you should've just cleaned it yourself. But you didn't. So don't b%$ch. And don't use the belay if you don't like it... princess... 8) +1 ...and more to the point: don't even start to b%$tch until you've cleaned/contributed at least 10% of wh...

Re: Here we go again (Squamish Gondola proposal)

I'm a bit confused Dru...you are advocating less access unless it is logging? Or do you just don't want Squamish to move past its (spiraling down) resource-fueled economic base Less access = more wilderness I mean, in most of BC you have to fight to get there, or pay heli fees but the benefit when y...

Re: Here we go again (Squamish Gondola proposal)

I too am in agreement with BK. Access in BC is anemic compared to Colorado, the Sierras, etc. And better access (to a point) is a good thing for us climbers and tourists (more folk to appreciate what we have got). Actually, IMHO the gondola doesn't go high enough to be of any real use for climbers/s...

Re: Wire Tap

Climbed the new variation (wire crack) this Sat am...very nice, great job guys. I agree a much better finish. I found the last pitch harder then the 10a, but maybe when the face exfoliates more (the crack is clean, but thin kinda like zip or nubile woman) the grade will feel more like 10a. Also this...

Re: Great Drain - rap with one rope?

Yes you can rap with a single 60 m. Bolted Barley special chain/washer anchors (crap, but at least not staples) are on face opposite flake of climb (climbers right). Bring some rap tat in case anchors have been stripped of mine.

You'll want at least 1 if not 2 #4 Camelots for the 3rd pitch.

I drooled over this looking at the crack from from slot machine...then went over to Olsen creek but respected the red tat: any idea when you'll open it?
