Heatwave cracks re-cleaned

The stunning cracks to the right of the crux pitch of the Squamish buttress have been given a spring buffing. Progress Can't Wait .12a, Heatwave .12a, and Gemini .12b are all in prime condition for your attention. There are very few straight-in cracks of this length in Squamish. All of them can be r...

Re: Partial opening of new North Apron route

Sorry for the late reply. I don't check in here very often anymore. The route still has a few days of work left to complete before it's open for business. Tendonitis (from cleaning) and an out of town work contract have kept me from getting it ready for this spring as planned. I'll be back soon, and...

Re: Wet vs. Dry rope in Squamish

Dry ropes are for ice and alpine climbers. No need to waste unnecessary $$ on the dry treatment unless you're heading into the mountains.

Dropped item from Rock On

Did you drop something off of Rock On on Friday August 20th? If so call me to identify it.

Re: Partial opening of new North Apron route

Thanks to all who have given this route a go! The two open pitches are quickly losing their "grittiness". We met some folks up there a few days ago who had done it several times. They commented that it was a much more consistent climb than Karen's Math to Memorial Crack. Moderate climbing throughout...

Re: Hanging Gardens at the Papoose

No topo, but you don't really need one. It's the first route you come to when walking along the base of the wall from the left. (normal approach trail) Follow the pitch by pitch description given on the first post of this thread. There are no intersecting routes that you could wander off onto.

Re: Definitive Squamish Offwidth Checklist

Nice list you've got coming together there. Your entry for Polaris possibly should be in the 5.10c section, as the offwidth pitch is of that grade.

Polaris, P4, 5-18", mostly bolted, with healthy spacing...

Partial opening of new North Apron route

Over the last 8 months, many of you have seen the fixed blue static ropes running down to the left of Memorial Crack and Calculus Crack. This is an ongoing project that will be ready for next spring, due to time constraints, and volume of cleaning required. The climb was completed in its vegetated s...

Re: North Walls New Routes

Very cool! Looks fun. I've wondered for years if something could be put together around that huge roof. I enjoy the huge white block underneath it that looks like a headless cloaked figure with arms outstretched to the sides.

Re: Wonderland Trail Crag?

We never really gave it a name when it was originally cleaned, but it became known as the Dryden Creek Crag in Kevin McLane's last guidebook. It was such an anomaly that it was only a footnote at the end of the book in the "other climbing areas" section. The routes are unique for squamish, in that t...

Re: Best place to camp

Google "camping Squamish" and you'll get a pretty good idea of what's here. You asked nicely so here's a synopsis from South to North that will save you all of that work: 1. Klahanie campground. Nice but pricey. Across the highway from Shannon Falls. Lots of car camping available. Reservations avail...
