OK :) Onsite: "Climbing the route from the ground up, first time, with no assistance, without falling, until you reach the top." Two climbers both try to onsite a route. Climber one has never heard of the route gets on it only knowing the grade, puts the draws up and sends it, without falling and t...

Ok, how is your definition of onsight subjective? It is exactly the same as I would have said, or as is accepted understanding by everyone. And please, here by everyone I don't mean some gumby who is outside toproping for the first time. I am talking about someone who's been climbing long enough to ...

If I understand you correctly. You are saying there is a clear cut definition for Redpointing, Onsighting, and Flashing. I hope thats what you're saying because it will be very fun to respond to that post. So go a head, have a shot at it. Keep in mind your comments above... but especially for the p...

when yuji hirayama onsighted sphinx crack, he climbed the 11b section to the bolt at the roof, clipped it, downclimbed to the ground, rested (still tied in) then climbed the route. are you saying yuji is a scorecard fluffer? Yuji did not record an ascent of Sphinx crack on his 8a.nu scorecard. As a...

keeping in mind the following statement: "I don't, nor should you, care in anyway if someone flashs or onsights a route if there definition of a flash or an onsight differ from your own. I have the luxury of climbing for me, not anyone else." That being said, if I climb up a route and then come dow...

It's those damn scorecard fluffers! At least some of us have the decency to actually climb what we put on 8a in the style we claim. I've met people even here at our local areas that I have caught in their own bs claims on 8a. And seriously, I immediately lose respect for anyone who does that, as wel...

stick clips are for short people... hence gary's need for one  Probably the most uneducated response possible. PS. I haven't used a stick clip in about 3 years  Uneducated??? Jeez, maybe unfunny, ok, but uneducated? Someone sure is bitter and overly sensitive these days... p.s. br...

Fleeing Heifer is very popular and pretty easy 12c, a good first one at the grade. Boiler Room at forgotten wall is damn easy 12d. All the 5.12 rated routes at forgotten wall are soft for their grade, so just jump on any and see if you like em. A fair for the grade 12c is Backdoor Santa, it has a re...

Hey Marty, nice pics. But as with many stories which travel around a bit, this one has picked up some embelishments. Not saying this is fake, but it is NOT from climbing. I looked around some more on the all-knowing internets, and this is some industrial accident which cinched a cable around the guy...

The gov't loves this kind of sh*t. All they bother to do is impose "fines" so they can fill their greedy pockets. I would like to know how exactly a fine is going to remedy the situation. I bet not a cent is going to go towards replanting trees, it will all just go into some cityhall coffers so it c...

Maybe Brendan will come up with something even more interesting, but I can think of this: Put a new propane cylinder (one of those 1L green ones from canadian tire) inside the house so you can still see a part of it thru the door or window. Shoot that propane cylinder with a .22 varmint rifle or som...

Any ice in?

Does anybody know if there is any decent ice formed between squamish and pemberton? We're heading up tomorrow, and wonder what might be the best bet as far as fat ice.

Re: torching? How about brushing?

Effect or no effect? effect. but there's no way climbers (myself included) would listen if there was a no-brushing rule in effect. are there things we can do to minimize impact? yup. - you could wash holds that have chalk caked-on them with water, or rubbing alcohol to clean them. this works better...
