Re: Trees Cut at Pet Wall
If I’m not very much mistaken, I do believe that I’ve inadvertently tapped into a taboo subject inducing a behavioral-herding moral panic. Or it could just be that you are wrong. Did they talk about that in your sociology course? That came out like a Type 7 on the Bristol Chart. Did they talk about...

Re: Trees Cut at Pet Wall
Whew, there’s enough venom in here to wither a city. I’ve not signed in since shortly after my initial posting, so excuse me if for not being able to pontificate earlier. Curiously, everyone conveniently sidestepped one word in my thread: unnecessary. You have, however, heavily weighted another: Tre...

Trees Cut at Pet Wall
From whose sub-par mind emerged the idea to do some completely unnecessary tree clearing at the Pet Wall?

Re: Hold Missing from "Baraka" at the Pet?
Baraka isn't one the Pet Wall's trade routes, and usually languishes in obscurity, so I'm thinking that the damage occurred recently. I'm going to take the bold and saucy step of saying that: A key feature of the route "Baraka" has broken off, and the climb is now more difficult than 12b. This new c...

Hold Missing from "Baraka" at the Pet?
For the last month-and-a-half, I’ve been reacquainting myself with some golden oldies at the Petrifying Wall after a lengthy leave of absence from climbing. I was on Baraka last week, and thought that something must be amiss. I cruised up the arch, and through the traverse, but was stopped dead in m...

Re: Is Squamish Soft?
Tending towards the soft side, and depending upon the area, also wildly inconsistent. I noted that the grades on many routes went up by a letter grade with the introduction of McLean’s 1992 guide. Pre-McLean, and as examples, both Blackwater at the Pet, and the Left Side of the Pillar were rated 11d.

Mid Week Squamish Partner
Just returning to climbing after an extended absence, and am looking for a partner who is available mid-week from Mon-Wed. Was in the 12+/13- range years ago, but would probably be starting in the 10+/11- range today. Prefer clipping to gear routes.
Cheers,
B.

I'm free this Wednesday the 15th. I'd be keen to head to the Petrifying Wall. Send me a PM if interested.

Free on Tues and Wed
I'm free to climb on Tuesday and Wednesday each week. I've loads of experience, but a shoulder injury means that I'm not quite up to speed yet. I was out on the 17th, and discovered that my technique/strength was conspicuous by its absence after sitting on my bum all year. I'm hoping to get as much ...

Bugaboos
I'm free from July 19-25 for a quick trip into the Bugs. I've been off the rock for two months after damaging my A2 pulley crimping up a 12 on the Pet Wall, so can't pull too hard in the Bugs. Probably good up to 5.10, though.
