Re: Kids and Beginners Bouldering
There's lots of good stuff in the Smoke Bluffs for roped climbing... not too sure about bouldering, I don't play that game.

Re: Here we go again (Squamish Gondola proposal)
Actually I didn't realize it was moving ahead so quickly... I saw their proposal a few months back and I thought they did a fair job of addressing the major concerns (they tried to cover their bases, based on public outcry against other projects like GaS and the Chief '04). So yeah, good marketing f...

Re: Here we go again (Squamish Gondola proposal)
My guess, except for grumbling from some quarters, it doesn't seem like there's any real strong reason to oppose the idea... Now, mind you it's just an idea at this point. When the plans get more firmed up and we see more specifics about what's being proposed then there might be something more to de...

Re: 5.10 crack testpieces
Anyone climbed Mushroom on the Papoose? It's 5.9, but it's a beautiful pitch of continuous handjamming. As far as testpieces go, this one's a nice stepping stone.

Sorry, I misunderstood when you wrote "got snagged"... I thought you meant they got it stuck, now I get it.

Nah, it was mine. My partner stuffed it in there on Sunday. I think the Americans tried to get you to clean it for them and claim the booty...c-plus wrote:the fixed camalot on apron strings got snagged today by a couple visiting americans. think it was a .75. too bad, i was happy to clip it on my way up

Stuck gear
When we got to Apron Strings on Sunday morning there was a fixed cam deep in the crack with a bootlace-like cord tied off to it. I think it's a yellow camalot as I recall... (Seems big for that spot but I think that's the colour of webbing I saw hanging from the stem inside the crack.) Not much high...

Re: Skywalker, 5p, 5.8
I finally climbed this on Saturday with Dave "squamish climber" while showing my friends around... That second pitch is worth it: easy but sustained. Yeah, that's what I'd call it, "Sustained-Easy", if that makes any sense. 5.8 seems right. I'd even say 5.7, but there are no real rests at that grade...

Re: Wasp nest next to Viper in the Grand Wall boulders
Sounds like they are out in force this summer. I got stung too on Saturday, also "uncalled for" as I was walking into the forest at the top of Skywalker.

Re: Here we go again (Squamish Gondola proposal)
Anyone have proposals for what else you'd like to see in that empty lot then?BK wrote:If this proposal is no good then what ever will be?
A Costco? A hotel? Waterslides? More parking?
It's a valuable spot because of the traffic. Eventually something will go in there, keep that in mind.

Re: Gnarly Bail(s) caught on tape
Nice one, glad you didn't deck. Did you get up and finish it? I did a similar move on Fatty Bolger, although it was higher up. It's a bit thin in the middle, last piece was a few metres below my feet. Reached way too high for the next clip, pulled up 2 armloads of slack, and whoosh... Yeah, the bela...
