Re: Wire Tap

Hey all. For the one or two folks who follow this website and don't also read Gripped online, here is the link to an article which covers a bit about cleaning moderate routes which featured the Upper Oleson Creek / Wiretap Area. Notably, the online version of the article has a picture of the newer W...

Re: Wire Tap

PJH, The wall dries suprisingly fast. That said there are spots that seep and I would suspect that the fallen leaf debris of the season has parts damp for some time. What is excellent about the whole area, is that there is a strong updraft most days and that seems to aid in drying the wall out. The ...

Re: Wire Tap

I reclimbed Wire Crack a number of times yesterday and, though I am biased to some degree, I think this is a pretty stellar pitch. I suppose the dificulty depends on your hand size, but it is a great 5.9 - 10a crack indeed. Lots of great rests - wrist lock, finger lock, foot pods, and good solid jam...

Re: Wire Tap

Giddy-up! There is a new crack climb up on the Olesen Creek Wall called Wire Crack (10a) . From the topo you can see that it branches off from the original Wire Tap route. The experience is a bit different than the original Wire Tap line as you can climb cracks the whole way up the route, however, i...

Re: Cleaning at Upper Oleson Cr Wall (Wiretap area)

UPDATE: 1) There is no rap route for this climb currently. And since what goes up must come down DON’T climb this pitch! You will get stuck up on the cliff face. 2) Spent the afternoon putting the final touches on the new pitches and making sure that Wiretap was pristine. 3) This new climb will have...

Re: Cleaning at Upper Oleson Cr Wall (Wiretap area)

Not sure exactly. I am trying to track down some hardware (Fixe rap anchors are hard to come by these days = go figure?!). The route needs some final tweaking ( a bolt and rap stations), so you can climb from the stump up to a ledge belay in a single 25m pitch. Then climb the final 30m pitch. It all...

Re: Props to route developers

I climbed up the North Butress Variation last weekend and it was quite enjoyable. Always great to get on new terrain. Thanks to the buttface crew.
