The Squamish Mountain Festival gets underway today. Good luck to all the volunteers and thanks for your hard work.

Everyone have a great and safe time this week. Hope to see you there. And in the spirit of making this a green event as possible, try ride sharing up to Squamish.

I would highly recommend that climbers try to make this event. I've gone the last two years and had a great time. It's a chance for us to give back to the community and show we care about the fantastic climbing resources in Squamish. And I would also mention you can meet some great people including ...

Is the fire on the backside of the chief still burning?

The Squamish Chief paper had a story yesterday about a fire on the backside the Chief near the park. July 8,2010 Sylvie Paillard spaillard@squamishchief.com Water bombers buzzed and smoke plumed over the backside of the Stawamus Chief Wednesday and Thursday (July 7 and 8 ) as crews battled a blaze i...

Fatal accident at Comic Rocks

I noticed this in the Chief newspaper. On Friday (June 25) at 8 p.m., Squamish RCMP was called to control traffic on Highway 99 between Furry Creek and Britannia Beach while emergency crews transported an injured 42-year-old Valleycliffe resident to hospital by helicopter. Chris Hansen was climbing ...

Long Weekend coming up - How come no one is posting rides?

I would have thought this Ride Share board would see more traffic. We're all going to the same place why not save some money and fossil fuel by filling up the car with fellow climbers.

Anybody have any ideas on how to make this board work better?

And the link to Quickdraw publications.

I'd like to see some more reviews. How much new info is there? What's the info like for Paradise Valley?

Yes - sending best wishes to the injured climber and a full recovery. And props to the Squamish Emergency Program Society and others for the smooth rescue. The article mentions there has been an increase in long-line rescues. Anybody have any stats over the last few years? Published June 9, 2010 LOC...

Stolen gear found in dumpster

I received the following email asking me if I could post this on squamishclimbing.com I found a collection of climbing gear in a dumpster just off of Main street and would love to connect it back to its owner. I suspect that it was in a bag or pack and was stolen - when the bag was opened the conten...

OT - Grey Whale spotted in Howe Sound

Now in addition to taking in the awesome view while belaying your partner on the Apron or the Grand, you may spot a grey whale. The whale was seen feeding near the Squamish Estuary. It's the first grey whale sighting in Howe Sound in a hundred years. See the news story here http://www.cbc.ca/canada/...

Nice going Anders and thanks for posting some photos -- They do tell an interesting story. Those solution groves look like fun to climb. Are there any other climbs in Squamish like that? That old bolt from 1961 is cool. Are those home-made from angle aluminium or could you buy hangers like that? I g...

Changed access for Sky Pilot and Habrich- what does it mean?

The following update was posted on the Squamish Access Society's website. Getting up Habrich has been a longstanding goal of mine, but I heard that the road closure made for a long approach. I'm wondering how long the approach will be now that more of the road is opened up? Changed Access to Skypilo...
