Re: VIMFF Squamish April 7 & 8 CASBC deal again
Looks like a great line-up of climbing films happening next week. Here's the trailer of the Prophet, playing on Friday, featuring UK big wall climber Leo Holding on his ten year project on El Cap (does that match the effort Tommy Caldwell and Kevin Jorgeson attempting to free Mescalito? lP078NfMyQ8 ...

Squamish choked to death by climbing ropes and bike chains?
According to a letter writer to the Squamish Chief paper, the town's industry is nearly dead and environmentalists and outdoor rec enthusiasts have turned the place into a low-wage resort town. Reading this letter it seems Squamish's transition to the "outdoor rec capital" is still having a polarizi...

Should werwolves and vampires pay to play on Squam rock?
Okay this is slightly in jest following the speculation that they're shooting the latest Twilight saga- Breaking Dawn at the Pet. Wall. There is a little rocky history between the local climbing community and film companies. In the past there's been little notice given, the rock or ground has been i...

OT - Nice & Cool Ice Climbing Tower @Big White
Took the fam. on a spring break ski trip to Big White last week. The skiing was awesome with lots of pow. A cool bonus, there was a 60 foot ice tower for some sweet top roping. It was my first time with the tools and I loved it. AMGA guide Jim Ongena is the guy behind this great feature for introduc...

Re: New National Climbing Centre Proposed for Squamish
Anonymous climber you raise some good points. Vehicle access onto Scott Cresc from the highway does seem lousy. What about pedestrian access? I'm not a local so excuse my ignorance but what about Behrner Dr. the road that goes behind Mamquam Blind Channel? Not that I'm advocating that since it would...

Squamish Chief Campground Fee Hike
The camping fees at the Chief appear to have gone up from $5 per night per person to $8 this year. The price change took effect March 15/11.
Here is the link to the 2011 fee schedule. The Stawamus Chief Park websitesays the the same thing.
Am I right about this? What do people think?

Re: ACL
There's some good personal POV on ACL reconstruction recovery on this thread. Although the operation side of things may have changed in the last 15 years the post-op recovery seems to be the same -- hard work, patience and more hard work. If you haven't checked out Sarah's blog make sure you do -- i...

Re: New National Climbing Centre Proposed for Squamish
Apparently the developer has shared its plans for a National Climbing Centre with the local MLA and MP and in the hope of obtaining government funding. This is what Kingswood Group company spokesperson, John Moonen told the Straight. Squamish's Stawamus Chief anchors climbing community

Charlie Smith wrote a nice take out in the Georgia Straight newspaper today on climbing in Squamish: Squamish's Stawamus Chief anchors climbing community .
