Alexis Cracks Wasp Nest

There is a small wasps nest forming in the diagonal crack on Alexis. I thought about cleaning it out but the wasps defended themselves somehow.

Re: West Van climbing

There are very few "pristine areas" on the North Shore, and I doubt this is one of them. And I agree that the problem is most likely Nimbyism.

Re: Skywalker, 5p, 5.8

I did the route Sat morning, and I enjoyed it. I felt that the grading was close enough. I appreciated the double anchors due to the line up and the people rapping the route. For what the route is the bolting seemed appropriate. The sting in the tail on pitch 3 nearly stung me as I got it all backwa...

Re: Don't Steal Draws

I would think that one of the many novices who frequent the area assumed they were booty. What are obviously project draws to the more experienced may not be to the new. Especially when they are so easily removed. So leave draws on hard routes if you must, but not out of laziness. That being said I ...

...... The community didn’t develop these new routes, Robin did, with his time and money..... I agree with much of what you said but while Robin did invest the time and money in these routes, they were developed on a shared community resource and so the community should have some say about standard...

I find the black diamond nut tool with the beer opener does a good job when used as a wrench.

My experience is similar to postals My 2 year old daughter has been out at the crags and in the gym since she was 2 weeks old. I still get a kick out of it when she has her dolls climb the walls in her room. When she asks we get her harness and helmet out and find something for her to climb. When sh...

I have to disagree with T-Bone, I felt that P3 was easier than P1.
I do agree that P5 felt like 5.8

you should ask the folks lined up at the base in Summer
or you could ask the members of the VOC who spent the time and money

No, random security guard checks would work just fine. Not a fool proof plan, but it's enough of a deterrent to persuade most would be thieves. They don't work any where else, I don't see why they would work in Squamish. A random guard is no more a deterrent than the idea that a random climber migh...

I drive up from Vancouver on a regular basis. I spend money in Squamish, I dislike parking fees. I could care less if the lot was paved. I don't have a problem with outhouses and portapottys. Don't leave anything in your car, short of having a full time security guard watching from when the first ca...

Its a great climb but it is worth avoiding the lineup. Go early, go late, go mid week. The conga line can make for some really long waits at the belays, even if you are a sow party to begin with.
