There is a small wasps nest forming in the diagonal crack on Alexis. I thought about cleaning it out but the wasps defended themselves somehow.

There are very few "pristine areas" on the North Shore, and I doubt this is one of them. And I agree that the problem is most likely Nimbyism.

I would think that one of the many novices who frequent the area assumed they were booty. What are obviously project draws to the more experienced may not be to the new. No, random security guard checks would work just fine. Not a fool proof plan, but it's enough of a deterrent to persuade most would be thieves. Its a great climb but it is worth avoiding the lineup. Go early, go late, go mid week. The conga line can make for some really long waits at the belays, even if you are a sow party to begin with.
