No backup, and no helmet, like most of us... Ain't that the truth. Walk around the crags of Squamish any sunny day of the year and the amount of sloppy helmet-less rappelling going on is downright mind boggling. I'm surprised accidents don't happen more often. A helmet might not have made the diffe...

Squamish Butress and Ultimate Everything on Saturday Morning

Apologies to the two parties on these routes that may have been spooked when they saw me pass by last Saturday. Next time I'll yell a "below" before I come down.

Snow on the Chief

Hello,

does anybody know if there is snow on the second peak (specifically, above Teddy Bear's Picnic) at the moment?

Thanks,

Re: Smash, Crash, Boom! ROCK SLIDE off the Chief

I'll scan the walls tomorrow with my binoculars for scars... find anything? I'm curious as well. I'm hoping that enough rock has dropped to create an 1800 foot overhanging wall that'll allow me to do terminal BASE jumps... :D Oh well, wishful thinking... Meanwhile I'll stick to the two secon...

Rich K; haha, great style. If you ever need a partner, drop me a note.

That said, my regular climber partner is more adventurous than I am, so if anything I'll be lowering her instead. Mmm, does that mean I can drink the beer?

Thanks, good advice. I like the top-rope idea. Wasn't sure how easy it was to rig up but sounds worth the investment.

Thanks again!

Pipeline - What Gear

Hello, Offwidths have recently caught my attention (I think Mike Hengevelds page [see below] helped) with Pipeline being the goal. Does anybody know what kind of gear I'll need going up there? The Squamish guide book doesn't mention anything in particular, but Mike mentions bigbros and large cams. W...

Climbing oriented First Aid Course

Hi, can anybody recommend a good first aid course with a focus on the type of injuries encountered in climbing and other outdoor sports? I'm trying to find something more extensive than a default CPR course. http://www.wildernessfirstaid.ca looks great, but the shortest course is five days, which is...

Wow, thanks guys. That's a much different reaction that what some base jumpers have to face in other parts of the world. MCpl brings up a good point though: Just try not to slam into me when the winds blow you back into the wall. However unlikely that is, there is always a small chance it might happ...

Base Jumping

Hi, The big wall in Squamish has been base jumped on several occasions and I would like to your opinions about this. The base jumping scene in southern BC and Washington is growing and it is only a matter of time before people will come back to that wall to find new exit points. In Washington there ...
