Bad anchor bolt on Talking Holds/Auntie Gravity

Just a heads up that the bolt stud can be wiggled around in the rock on one of the anchor bolts of Talking Holds. The other bolt stud also seemed to show a little movement, though not as pronounced, so use gear to backup the anchor if intending to toprope and use caution when rapping.

Re: New take on an old route at Shannon Falls

Potato,

I actually did just that with the existing aid piece, but, honestly, I felt silly bothering with it because that old bolt is so thin and rusty I think it would snap easily with any force.

Re: New take on an old route at Shannon Falls

Kris, A few more thoughts to add to the "debate," for what it's worth. I can appreciate the merits of both sides: a spicy finish showcases the face climbing, a bolted face let's the long crack system be the star of the show. One consequence of leaving it without a bolt could be that it appeals to a ...

Re: Squamish Partner Needed this Friday, June 26

Thanks for the reply, Elie. I have found a partner for Friday. I'll be back in town in a couple weeks -- perhaps if you are still around we could try to grab a few days then.

Squamish Partner Needed this Friday, June 26

Hi, I am in town and looking for a partner for this Friday, June 26. Crag or multipitch in the 5.9 - 10b/c range if I am leading (or I am happy to follow harder grades if you are leading). I place a high priority on safety (helmets, checking each other's knots, etc), but am otherwise easygoing and j...

Re: Borderline Rappel Beta

Thanks, Woeisme.

I saw that they mentioned managing to rap from P3, but it's not sounding like getting down from the upper pitches is possible without two ropes.

Borderline Rappel Beta

Does anyone know if it is possible to rappel from the top of P6 of Borderline with a single 60m rope, and if so, which stations you would use? I've rapped from the top of Blazing Saddles with a single 60m but it doesn't appear from the topo that the raps from the top of Borderline would follow the s...

Re: New take on an old route at Shannon Falls

Thank you for unearthing this stellar line! I concur with the claim that this is arguably one of the best crack pitches in Squamish. Given that, having a runout slab crux finish seemed out of character with the true pleasure of the route (climbing the beautiful cracks) and detracts from its appeal, ...

Re: Nice TR of Europa

I climbed the route in 2009 and put up some pics and a TR http://cascadeclimbers.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=902403 here on cascadeclimbers.com Although I quite enjoyed it, I've never felt compelled to go back and repeat it. I think the subsequent reports of continuting loose condit...

Partner for trad Thurs 8/18

Looking for a safe, solid partner for something in the 5.8-5.10c range this Thursday. On Wednesday I'm doing a long multipitch so a mellower sort of day on Thurs(ie-cragging or a short multi) would be ideal but I'm open to ideas. I have ropes and rack and lead .10a/b, depending on the route style. J...

JMace--Cool! So does that mean that we're about to turn the corner into summer? I hope it comes soon...seems like there's not much left of it. Hoping this weekend shapes up for starters.

We climbed it a full week after a heavy rain cycle last summer, thinking things had had time to dry out; led the last two .10a pitches with water running down our arms and backs. :? Good news is that the holds are positive and the gear is good thru the dihedral and O/W at the finish that a little(or...
