There's a board near the campground entrance, by the payment station.

Sorry to hear this, Mooky.
Where was your car parked when the gear was taken?

LA Sportivas at Slhanay
There were a pair of La Sportivas in the Slhanay pull-out last night. We hung them from the 'No Camping' sign so they'd be visible and wouldn't get run over.

Re: Lowering off chains
Well that's a nice sentiment, but have you actually asked the new route developers what their expectation was when they placed the fixed gear? Personally-speaking, when I invest in fixed steel biners for the anchors on new routes I bolt here, it is for people to lower. I agree with you that a lot o...

Re: Lowering off chains
Actually, that's precisely the topic here. This all started because the OP said he was heading out with a gym climber who isn't confident about rappelling. Honestly, if a person can figure out how to load one strand of rope through a device but gets stumped when he has to perform the same trick with...

Re: Best to be more discreet
It stretches belief to say that these people didn't know there was an issue, since railway tracks are privately owned, not just at the Malamute, but everywhere. Having said that, climbing on private property is something we have all done. There have been cases where climbers getting caught has shut ...

Re: Ultraviolet Cliff, Gondola Top Station
There are 3 new moderate routes near the top of the gondola. 'Generator X' 5.8. FA: Noelle Phillips, 14-6-15. Start in a small dihedral at the left end of Ultraviolet Cliff, left of a large tree. Make a couple of tricky moves off the ground until you can move right to parallel cracks which are follo...

Re: Ultraviolet Cliff, Gondola Top Station
Thanks for the info. We took a drive part-way up yesterday, and it did look pretty rough. Didn't see any sign about blasting, but we might not have made it that far.

How's the condition of the Shannon Creek FSR - any chance of getting up it in a 2wd car?

Re: Split Beaver 5.10b New video, nice shooting
Who's pissing on whose Cornflakes? Yes, Slopr's reply is a good description of what he recommends for the route. Some of us would recommend something else, and such debate is what a forum like this is for. It was Slopr who started getting personal, insinuating that others were crying, and calling us...

Re: Split Beaver 5.10b New video, nice shooting
That's great Slopr. As you said, yay for you. I'm not against running it out at all, if that's what you want. Knowing the route, I just can't, with any sense of responsibility, read a post like your first one and not add what I did. My point stands - I believe most climbers will want some gear large...

Re: Split Beaver 5.10b New video, nice shooting
Naturally, all trad climbing, and especially crack climbing, is a balance between keeping a climb safe and not gettting too tired placing gear. Taking this climb as an example, it is the climber most likely to pump out on the off-width who will want the #5 in there the most. This isn't a balance-ori...
