Re: Film Crew @ the climbers parking lot
They're filming a movie in town, have been at it for months. It's the latest Twilight movie. FWI their security doesn't take any crap, unlike the crew that was filming in the Bluffs last March. They were kind enough to let my help my self to their catering table.

Submitted for your approval, I give you exhibit A. https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/_vIKtzFj4rBk/TVoLaMJ3kwI/AAAAAAAAAck/ieJrr1Zy8u0/s720/IMAG0255.jpg Personally I think the quality of the workmanship is in keeping with the rest of the work being done in the bluffs, that being top notch. Black post...

Free gear to anyone re-equipping stripped routes.
So based on the advice given to me from Kris and Staven I went on down to Fastenal in North Vancouver and picked up a sack of 100 stainless steal nylock nuts and washers. Thanks for the heads up on Fastenal BTW, I clearly have been paying WAY too much on hardware over the years. So my thoughts are t...

The amazing disappearing-reappearing hangers!
Went for a short walk today in the bluff to take stalk in the Barely un-bolting situation. To my surprised and delight one route at Ronin's Corner known as "Sammy's Frog 5.10" an enjoyable well protected face route found to the right of MCM has had its hangers returned to it. On Sunday there were go...

I find it difficult to "stop taking the line that some in the community are being nanny police" when that seems to be exactly what is happening. Much has been done this winter to polarize opinions in the Squamish climbing community. Naaah.... more like some in the community are choosing to no longe...

keep in mind you're asking a bunch of climbers this question - i would imagine the answer is going to be swayed towards removing them since we are not the primary users of it. does anyone know who actually does use the via ferrata? are there via ferrata clubs out there? i've never heard of anyone a...

Re: list
regardless of whose "fault" it was ... is there a list of climbs where the bolts/anchors have been removed and are there any plans in the future to rebolt them? it would be nice for a list to be made available to the public, so that they don't get too surprised when climbing season starts Well, I t...

A pox on both houses, Robin and the SAS. Yes Robin is being overly reactive for removing his bolts because of a perceived intrusion into his style of creating routes, but SAS must have realized that removing staples and anchors on Robin’s routes would have only escalated an already volatile situati...

I really hope that this does not morph into a similar situation as happened in the North eastern US with Ken Nichols. http://www.ukclimbing.com/news/item.php?id=38849 http://www.stopken.org/Home.html Similar? Not really, unless you consider Robin to be two separate people. Lets call them Robin and ...

I'm not sure if I should be confused, amused, or just plain disgusted. What's the story here? Someone has got to have heard some rumor or hard evidence as to why this is being done. So did someone finally put their foot down against his use of Ajax bleach and this is some sort of jaded spiteful resp...

I received this update from the Smoke Bluffs Park advisory committee. Climbers please note: Robin Barley advises that he is removing all his climbs from the Bluffs. At this time hangers and anchors have been removed from his climbs at Bug house ,Funorama and Pink Cliff . The bolts have not been cho...
