Feb 20, Wed :: Jeff Lowe – Alpine Climbing Expert, Presentation and Slideshow
8pm at Millennium Place – Whistler Arts Council and Coast Range Heliskiing present alpine expert Jeff Lowe as part of Out of Bounds: Tales from the Backcountry. A renowned alpine, big wall and free-climbing master, Lowe’s lengthy list of climbs includes hundreds of first-ascents. He is recognized as one of the world’s premiere ice climbers. The Lowe routes, which are among the most difficult mixed climbs in the world, have inspired a new generation of winter climbing aficionados. Lowe will present fantastic photographs and read from his new book, Many Climbs, to put a human face on the world of extreme alpinism. Prizes provided by ARC’TERYX Equipment and Merrell Canada. Out of Bounds is a photography exhibition and competition running for the entire month of February at Millennium Place featuring scenes of skiing and snowboarding in BC backcountry. Feb 23, Sat :: Squamish Valley Before the Highway, with Lesley Keith.
Brackendale Art Gallery, 8:00 pm. A PP presentation of photographs of the Squamish Valley before it was connected to Vancouver by road. Presented by the Squamish Historical Society on the Brackendale Art Gallery’s new 10′ screen. Admission by donation.
